DESIGN: THE INDIA STORY | DEC 2016 Divya Curates Design: The India Story, a seminal show that explores design development in India through the lens of Objects and Ideas. The exhibit becomes the first of its kind on Indian soil, directly impacting over 2 lac people. Over a period of 45 days, an area of 5600 sq. ft. spanning 2 iconic venues in Mumbai’s cultural district became home to the dual documentation of product & practice of design in the subcontinent.
300 Objects emblematic to everyday India were presented at the country’s premier museum, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahlaya (formerly the Prince of Wales Museum)
8 Ideas from the ancient Indian approach were displayed through a sensorial synthesis of concept, sound and material at Goethe Institut, founded by the cultural arm of the Republic of Germany
Sustained programming complemented both shows where different professional worlds commingled through talks, debates and seminars conducted by academicians, architects, hoteliers, journalists and entrepreneurs
The exhibition promises to offer an interesting perspective-shift on a lot of the design we see at work in our day-to-day lives... A definite must-see for enthusiasts of design and heritage alike.” - Architectural Digest, December 2016
