PEACOCK VANITY MIRROR

For Wallpaper* Handmade's annual show in Milan, the object selected was a collaborative creation with Argentinean graphic artist Leandro Castelao, India based craftsmen and Divya.

In Indian mythology, the peacock, with its luxurious plumage is the ultimate symbol of vanity, and thus is the vehicle of Karthikeya, the God who conquers vices. The 6 vices represented are lust, anger, greed, passion, ego and jealousy. These characteristics were captured as a 2 D drawing by Leandro, then designed as a life size mirror by Divya, and brought to life by local karigars with delicate handcrafted mirror pieces and a beaten silver stand.
